Seen finds people whose paths crossed yours. Doing that needs your location, so this page is specific about what we collect and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Location, in the background. Seen records places where you stayed for roughly ten minutes or more, including while the app is closed. We do not keep a continuous trail of your movement, and we never show your live location to anyone.
- Your email address, to create and recover your account.
- Your alias, real name, photo, bio and intentions.
- Messages you send to people you have matched with.
- A push notification token, so we can notify you.
- Your date of birth, to confirm you are 18 or over. It is stored once, cannot be changed afterwards, and is deleted when you delete your account.
What other people can see
Before you and another person both choose to reveal, they can see your alias, your photo and how many times you crossed paths. Your photo is visible before a mutual reveal — your real name is not. Your real name is shown only after you have both revealed to each other.
Nobody is ever shown your exact location, your address, or where you were at a given time. Crossings are computed on our servers and reported only as a place and a count.
You can define shielded spots — areas where Seen stops recording entirely — and turn on Ghost Mode to pause recording altogether.
Who processes your data
A small number of trusted providers help us run Seen: a cloud platform that hosts the database, sign-in and photo storage; Apple, to deliver push notifications to your phone; a hosting provider for this website and its basic traffic statistics; and an email provider for account and support messages.
Your data is stored in the European Union (Ireland). We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
If you want to know exactly which providers we use, email support@oz9un.com and we will tell you.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. Unrevealed crossings expire on their own. Deleting your account removes your profile, your visit history, your crossings and every conversation you were part of, immediately and permanently.
Deleting your account
In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. It happens straight away and cannot be undone — you do not need to email us and we cannot reverse it.
Your rights
Seen's database is in Ireland and the GDPR applies. You can request access to your data, correction, deletion, or a copy of it by writing to support@oz9un.com.
Age
Seen is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
